Course Description

DPS 0214 introduces learners to the principles, strategies, and practices of capacity building as a foundation for achieving sustainable peace and development in communities, institutions, and post-conflict societies. The course explores key concepts such as human and institutional capacity development, leadership theories, sustainable development strategies, negotiation processes, and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) methods. Students learn how to strengthen community resilience, promote good governance, enhance social cohesion, and design effective peacebuilding interventions and develop practical skills such as leadership, negotiation, conflict analysis, and the application of ADR techniques

Course Expected Outcomes Learning

By the end of this course, the learner should be able to:

ii.     Describe the leadership styles that are used world over

iii.   Describe the negotiation process and dynamics

iv.    Handle dispute resolutions in peace building
